Juventus and Roma will square off at the Allianz Stadium in the Italian Serie A on Saturday.
Roma are a place and one point above Juventus, but Juve have a game in hand on their visitors. So a win on Saturday could see them leapfrog Roma into third. However, they will be facing a Roma team that’s won their last two league games, including a fine 3–1 win against Hellas Verona last week, and are certainly seeking a third victory on the bounce.
Juventus, meanwhile, are on a five-match winning streak across all competitions – a run that includes wins against Napoli and Inter Milan.
The Old Lady had defeated Sampdoria 2–0 in their last league outing a week ago, before securing a 2–1 win against Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia in midweek, thanks to a brace from you-know-who.
Juve are seeking a 10th straight Serie A title, but league action this season hasn’t been all rosy for them. They’re seven points off the top of the table, but maximum points against Roma will well reduce that deficit. The last meeting between both sides ended in a 2–2 draw, with Ronaldo netting the brace at the Stadio Olimpico. Can the phenomenal Portuguese, who just turned 36, inspire his side to victory this time around?
Juventus: Paulo Dybala and Franco Israel are working their way back from a knee and head injury, respectively, so they might be unavailable.
Roma: Bryan Reynolds, Chris Smalling and Pedro Rodriguez are all doubts for the game, while Nicolò Zaniolo remains unavailable.
Juventus to win
Juve and Roma shared the spoils when they met at the Stadio Olimpico earlier in the season. But Juve, who have been in sparkling form recently, will be looking to keep up their intensity.
Andrea Pirlo’s men have lost just once at home in the league this season. They have a good defensive record, having conceded the least amount of goals in the league this season, and should be good enough to make life difficult for the visitors.
Their win again Inter in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia on Tuesday should have them feeling fresh and confident ahead of this weekend’s contest. You can bet on them to prevail at home.
